Pranab Mukherjee said that the Government will continue to hold majority stakes in Public Sector Banks, even though disinvest stakes in Public Sector companies. He saluted Indira Gandhi who decided to nationalize 14 Scheduled commercial Banks for the first time. He told that even though pressure from all corners and political parties they have not opened up Banking Sector completely to the Private Sector or Market forces.
